A video card, also being commonly called graphics accelerator card, display adapter or graphics card, is an expansion card with function of generating and outputting graphics, videos and  images to a display device. Some graphic adapters offer added functions, such as video capture, TV tuner adapter, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 decoding, FireWire, light pen, TV output, or abilities to connect multiple monitors. Video hardware can be integrated on the mainboard, which is commonly referred to as a video controller or graphics controller.

There are two major video card chipset  manufacturers. They are ATI that makes Radeon and Nvidia, the supplier of nForce chipset. Many board level manufacturers use these video chipsets video cards and video adapters. Gigabyte is one of the leading video card suppliers.
