have resulted in many confusing yet arguable conclusions. We don't
believe it is meaningful to compare processors of two brands for CPU

Many processor benchmark tests are just the matter of opinions as
processor speed or CPU benchmark are often associated with other
computer components and peripherals used in testing. In addition, the
CPU speed may have different impacts on different application. Intel and
AMD are racing to increase processor speed on regular basis through
constant inventions of different semiconductor architectures and
technologies. We must say both companies deliver equally high quality
and innovative microprocessors in the computer industry. |

With the CPU speed being developed to the current benchmark level, it is
reasonable to say even a middle class processor, whether AMD or Intel,
has the operating speed more than sufficient for running a vast majority
of applications. In fact, the PC CPU speed has been out pacing software
developments in the IT industry. Although high processor speed may
somewhat improve the performance of certain gaming or professional
software, the CPUs in the high speed range are still overkills for most
applications. Probably that is why price gaps between different CPU
speeds have been constantly shrinking. Therefore, it does no longer make
sense to compare CPU benchmark or processor speed between two brands. |

Many had argued that there are reliability difference between two brands
of PC processors. That might be true in the old age, but we have to
dismiss the argument at the present time. After decades of research and
development, PC processor technologies have reached a matured level.
Granted, glitches and bugs may exist here or there, particular when rolling out
new products, but they can no way affect the overall reliabilities of
modern PC processors. |
